Tom Goodwin, the center fielder on the last two Texas Rangers teams to make the playoffs, was hired Monday as manager of an independent minor league team in the Dallas area. The 38-year-old Goodwin will manage the Lewisville Lizards in the Continental Baseball League, which debuts in May. Goodwin hit .268 in 14 major league seasons with six teams.
